ABOUT US

Who We Are

PelEX is a health information exchange network that has served Louisiana’s Medicaid population for over ten years. We provide timely, actionable data to empower care teams to deliver the best care possible. PelEX serves as a trusted health data steward through community-driven data sharing and meaningful collaboration.

PelEX’s mission is to promote high-value, well-coordinated care to ensure that every person has fair and just opportunities to be healthy and well.

In 2013, Partnership for Achieving Total Health (PATH) was incorporated as a 509(a)(3) supporting organization of the statewide nonprofit organization Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI) and serves as PelEX’s governing entity.

PelEX, formerly known as the Greater New Orleans Health Information Exchange, was developed as part of the Beacon Communities Program grant funded by the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology. The PelEX network was cultivated out of a strong foundation of Federally Qualified Health Centers in the New Orleans area seeking to promote care coordination and access to primary care in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
